Project Phases
The complete build is organized into phases, from initial planning through final setup. Each phase has detailed requirements, design specifications, and task tracking.
All Phases
Project Setup
Establish documentation methodology, create templates and conventions.
Planning & Permits
Site assessment, local code research, permit applications, budget planning.
- * Zoning district identified (SR)
- * Setback requirements documented
- * Height restrictions documented
- * Lot coverage limits calculated
- * Electrical/HVAC requirements researched
- ~ Clarify IBC/IRC separation requirement
- . Select building site
- . Obtain building permit
Design
3D modeling (SketchUp), floor plan and dimensions, sound isolation strategy, electrical layout, materials selection.
- * Room proportions research completed
- . Determine structure dimensions
- . Select wall assembly system
- . Design foundation system
Site Prep & Foundation
Ground clearing and leveling, formwork, concrete slab pour, curing.
Framing
Wall framing (likely double-stud for sound isolation), roof framing, door and window rough openings.
Exterior
Sheathing, roofing, siding, exterior door and windows.
Systems
Electrical rough-in, HVAC planning, soundproofing layers.
Interior Finish
Insulation, drywall, flooring, interior door, trim and paint.
Acoustic Treatment
Bass traps, absorption panels, diffusion (if needed).
Final Setup
Equipment installation, final inspection, punch list completion.
Phase Notes
- > Phases may be split or combined as the project evolves
- > Detailed specs are created just-in-time (1-2 phases ahead)
